COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (May 21, 2012) – The Commerce City Recreation Center is hosting its third annual Senior Health and Fitness Fair on Wed., May 30, from 8-11 a.m. The free event – open to all older adults in the metro Denver area – features interactive presentations and demonstrations on topics such as transportation, staying healthy while aging and learning the signs of Alzheimer’s.
Eighteen organizations will be participating in the fair, providing attendees with tips and information to improve individual health and wellness. “Getting healthy is on everyone’s to do list, but for older adults there are often barriers like lack of insurance or high co-pays,” said Kelsey Lundy, recreation coordinator. “This is an opportunity for seniors to learn about preventative health measures without costly payments.” In addition to informational booths, low-cost health screenings will also be available.
