FREE FOOD, entertainment and up-close look at big trucks

Residents are invited to a free Touch-a-Truck event from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 15 at the Municipal Services Center (8602 Rosemary St.), hosted by the Commerce City Public Works Department. In addition to an up-close look at heavy equipment and a chance to see how public works keeps the city running, the event includes free food, family-friendly activities, games and giveaways.

“We enjoy hosting a fun event like this to connect with the community and offer a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes to maintain the quality of life residents expect,” said Maria D’Andrea, director of public works. “I hope kids of all ages will join us to climb into the vehicles, learn about city programs and talk to our hard-working employees.”

Vehicles on display include a snow plow, street sweeper, garbage truck, police cruiser and even a fire truck from the South Adams County Fire Department. Visitors can paint snow plow blades, tour the sign-making shop and traffic operations center, learn about construction projects and get home maintenance tips from facilities staff.
